Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection is one of my favorite wedding venues on the Big Island. It is the perfect place for a South Asian wedding, with a variety of spaces from the lawns to the suites. We put together an editorial seeking a fresh twist on destination weddings in Hawaii. Merging the vibrant traditions of South Asian culture with the relaxed island vibe, our collaboration broke the mold of a traditional South Asian wedding or a typical Hawaiian wedding.

Best Make Up Artist for South Asian Weddings in Hawaii

Indigo Grace Artistry, the hair and makeup artist, styled three distinct looks for the Mehndi, Sangeet, and Wedding, perfectly capturing the layered traditions of South Asian weddings. With multiple events being a staple of these celebrations, Hawaii is perfect for curating an unforgettable multi-day celebration. Destination weddings double as vacations, so hosting multiple affairs gives guests a chance to unwind, mingle, and enjoy the experience. It’s a thoughtful way to thank them for the effort they’ve made to be part of your special day, offering more than just a single event. Some of our favorite looks from Indigo Grace are featured here.

South Asian Wedding Planning and Design

Collis Co. designed a unique table design for the reception, adorned with bright florals from Grace Flowers Hawaii. Hanging floral installations and romantic center pieces were the perfect blend for this bright wedding celebration. Place settings and rentals that took the suite to the next level were from Island Celebrations Hawaii and Kea and Loa. All of the BTS was captured by Ruchi of TheBtsDulhan.

Maurisa from Collis Co. explains, “South Asian weddings are known for their vibrant colors, so I couldn’t wait to infuse as much as possible! To keep things balanced, I paired the bold florals with neutral table linens that complemented the bride’s saree. Circular tables were a big trend in 2024, and while the logistics of connected rounds aren’t my favorite, they make stunning content for an editorial shoot like this. The layout and pops of color truly captured the vibrant essence of these celebrations.”

Big Island Indian Wedding Photography

Blending an editorial and documentary style, Cadencia Weddings intuitively makes photos that are infused with meaning. From a young age, I’ve been in love with Indian culture, from Bollywood films to the aromatic food to the kind people. I visited India on a solo trip in 2018, and would love to go back again and bring my family. Photographing Indian weddings and capturing the traditions in multi-day celebrations in Hawaii is so special.

I love to blend 35mm and medium format film with digital photos for a timeless gallery and album to relive the week for years to come. Planning a South Asian wedding in Hawaii? Get in touch for availability here.
