Kailua-Kona is located on the west side of Hawaii Island (the Big Island), and a beautiful place for your elopement. There are many locations for your wedding day, from sandy beaches to historical venues.

It’s important to have your elopement in a place that is legal and pono, and you can count on your local photographer to know about permits and regulations.

Another reason why I recommend Kailua-Kona to many couples looking to elope, is the weather. With around 26 inches of annual rainfall, you can bet that your wedding day will have lots of golden sunshine.

Accommodations are plentiful on this side of the island, with resorts like the Four Seasons Hualalai, Kona Village, the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa.

  2. Kohanaiki Beach Park: Also known “Pine Trees” to locals, this surf-spot has lava rocks, tide pools, and white a coral beach.
  3. Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park: A 1160-acre park is home to many archaeological sites, trails, beaches, fishponds, with a beautiful history of a thriving ahupua’a. This requires a special use permit, which your photographer can help you obtain.
